Comment: This razor replaces one that I have had for 4 years and is not sold in stores anymore. This razor by far is better than what I have tried when mine quit working. Yes it is refurbished and for the most part refurbished is better than a factory mass prodution. So as of date I would recommend this vendor.

Comment: I chose this razor (Norelco ReflexPlus 6863XL 6863 Shaver) after reading many reviews on Amazon. Living on an Island it is important to only import things that will work properly. I was so happy to receive the razor even though I had to wait at FedEx for 1.5 hours on Christmas Eve as the delivery was 8 days late due to a snow storm up north. All of that is beside the point, my husband opened the gift on Christmas morning.
By the middle of January the razor was performing sporatically, refusing to be turned OFF and finally now refusing to be turned ON.
So much for that. I certainly cannot recommend this one. AND I suppose I did not read the fine print for I did not know it was sold as FACTORY REFURBISHED until this very moment when an email arrived asking to write a review. I would never import something refurbished.
Total waste of money, import duty and time - for two weeks worth of shaves. Oh, I also bought spare blades if anybody wants them!
One Star Rating is only because it would not let me leave it BLANK.

Comment: I have had several Norelco Shavers. I recently purchased the newest and most expensive model 9160 SmartTouch for $150. It wasn't as good as my old 6400 series, so I returned it. The newer shavers, 7000 series and higher, have heads with slots and round holes. The round holes are useless. All the series below 7000 have only slots in the heads, and you get a much better shave. Whatever series you decide on, buy the model in that series with the best charge life. Usually the higher the model # in each series, the better the battery and features are. I ended up with the 6863XL and I love it.

Comment: No matter how much you spend, there is no electric shaver on the market today that shaves as close as a blade (believe me, I've tried most of them), but this Norelco 6863XL comes VERY close. The Reflex Plus 6 cutting system hugs your face and actually does better than a blade on the difficult areas such as the jaw bones and Adam's apple. And it's very quiet with no vibration, you hardly know it's on. The important thing is to make sure you get one that is made in Holland (check the bottom of the box). The newer ones are now made in China and they don't seem to have the quality, fit and finish of the Holland models. The manual states that the battery will hold a charge for 45 minutes but mine has been lasting well over an hour and can give you over 2 weeks of shaving on just one charge. There's also a 6 minute quick charge feature, plus the shaver can even run with the cord in case the battery dies while shaving. I really like the battery charge indicator. It has 5 LED's ranging from 100% down to 20%. When the 20% LED turns from green to red you know it's time to re-charge. And it only takes 1 hour to fully charge! Maintenance is easy too. Just a quick brushing of the hair chamber once a week and cleaning/oiling every 2 months. If you've had bad luck with electric shavers in the past, I strongly suggest you try the Norelco 6863XL. I like it even better than the expensive Quadra models. I got mine at Sears during a sale and they had several that were made in Holland.
